Daddy Daughter Date Night

An evening for girls and their “dates” (dads, step-dads, grandfathers, uncles, or another significant man in their life - no moms allowed!) that includes dinner, dessert, dancing, and a special appearance by Miss Illinois. This is a formal event: young ladies should wear a dress; sport coat/suit and tie for the male attendants. Professional photos by John Locus Photography available and may be purchased for an additional fee. This is a truly classy evening that will create memories to last a lifetime.
Registration is required and is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. This event sells out every year. Do not wait to register. Registration ends February 22, 2013.
Fee: $42 per couple, $19 for each additional daughter

Splash City’s Battle of the Bands

Splash City
Talented teens show what they’ve got at this event. The competition is open to teenage talent (band members should be 12-21 years old) and is held after hours at Splash City.
Bands battle for fame, prize money and a chance to compete at the state-wide battle in August at the Illinois State Fair.
*Bands will need to submit applications and a demo CD with 2-4 songs to the CARD offices, 10 Gateway Drive in Collinsville, or send the link to their MySpace or Facebook band page to Shelly at screhan@collinsvillerec.com.

Fishing Derby
Registration at 8:30am, fishing at 9am, weigh-in at 2014 date to be determined.
Woodland Park Lake in Collinsville
Our annual fishing derby returns during this year’s International Horseradish Festival. Winners will receive prizes and there will be giveaways for all entries. Each participant will also receive a hot dog and a soda. This competition is open to individuals of all skill levels; the Southwestern Illinois Special Recreation Association will host a competition for children with disabilities. Bring equipment, bait, and a bucket for fish. A limited number of poles will be available for loan.

Dash ‘n Splash 5K Run/Walk and After Party

CARD Activity Center and Splash City
Take a dash and cool down with a splash. Start this fun-filled evening with a 5K run/walk around Eastport Plaza and then cool off and relax with a private party, dinner and music at Splash City. The party is open to friends and family members of those participating in the 5K run/walk.
$26 before July 2 and $30 after that date. The guest fee for the party after the race is $12 for adults and $8 for children.

CARD is bringing the early 1900s to life during this event. See live demonstrations of weaving, quilt-making, wood working, leather working, and other heritage crafts. Visit our farm animals, hear live bluegrass music by Rural Rights Revival, and tour the restored farm house. Visitors celebrate the return of spring with free nature tours, scavenger hunts, tractor rides, and garden activities during this family-friendly event. We're roasting a big pig on-site so pulled pork sandwiches and hot dogs will be available for purchase. See a live performance by the
Thunder & Lightning Cloggers at 12:30pm. Admission is free.

Bring your tent and sleeping bags to the farm for this family camping experience. After setting up, enjoy a guided night hike among the trails. Bring your hot dogs and marshmallows, and we'll get the bonfire started for roasting.

Join participants at aquatic facilities around the world as we help to set a new Guinness World Record. You’ll join over 24,000 ‘students’ in 15 countries for this special swim lessons. Each child will receive a certificate for participating.
Tragically, drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death for children under 14-years-old. Attend this event to learn and help spread awareness of water safety.

What to expect at the 2nd Annual Pack Walk: Presentation by the Collinsville Police Department K-9 Unit, free training session with John Dahman from Cindy’s Critter Camp, pet photography opportunity from Jill Heupel Photography, grooming opportunity from Cindy’s Critter Camp, and be sure to enter the Doggie Costume Contest. Other vendors include Sunny Spot for Dogs with homemade dog treats, Camp Bow Wow doggie daycare and boarding, Dog Day Afternoon pet products, Forever Friends Great Dane Rescue, Hartz Animal Rescue Spay and Neuter Clinic, and Partners for Pets will be on-site for adoptions.

Surf's Up Competition

Splash City
All ages: must be 48” or taller
Held during the California Beach Party, Surf's Up participants will compete in expert, amateur, or junior divisions in bodyboard or surf events for prizes with the expert division vying for prize money and a chance to compete at the national level. Participants can compete in bodyboard or stand-up events. Register that morning at Splash City.
Age categories: female, all ages; juniors up to 17 years old; men, 17-29; masters are 30 yrs+
Amateur divisions: $25, each additional division is $5 (Splash City season pass holders receive $10 discount); expert divisions: $35, each additional division is $35.
